Cheshire Beekeepers’ Association is organised into five branch areas, each with its own branch secretary and the branches organise their own programme of events throughout the year.
During the active season these events usually feature visits to members apiaries often with a theme depending on the location of the apiary and how far advanced or otherwise the bees are. The theme may be spring build up, swarm control, disease/treatment for varroa, Queen rearing etc. For these apiary meetings it is essential to take a veil and many of those attending wear their normal beekeeping attire.
From September to April the meetings are usually at an indoor venue and consist of talks mainly, but not exclusively of a beekeeping or related nature. An early meeting attended is usually the B.B.K.A. Spring Convention at Stoneleigh, and it is at this that beekeepers from all over the country renew acquaintances and generally have a good chat. This helps to keep us up-to-date on events taking place nationally and it is an ideal opportunity to buy equipment and supplies for the coming year.
All members are encouraged to register with one of the branches because a capitation amount is devolved from the County Association to the branch for each member registered with the particular branch.. There are no separate branch subscriptions though there may be a voluntary branch meeting fee. Any member of Cheshire Beekeepers can attend any or all of the meetings held by the branches.
